Our Mission Statement

Inspired by the Archangel Gabriel:

Through our worship we draw closer to God. In our lives we are messengers of God’s love for all, seeking to bring wholeness, hope and joy in the communities where we live and work.

Location

We are situated on the corner of Park Rd and Aldersbrook Rd. The 101 and W19 buses both stop very close to the church

St Gabriel’s is a church in the more catholic tradition, which means we have more ritual than some other Church of England churches.  One of the ways you’ll notice that is that we have a serving team, who work with the priest and lay minister to lead the liturgy.  We do this to create an atmosphere where we know that we’re involved in something special, something holy.  The servers wear white robes: clothes you’d not normally wear except in church; they carry candles and a large cross, which are symbols of Christ in his suffering but also in his resurrection.  And the key thing is that we are doing this together - clergy and people together.  The word Liturgy (which describes the whole service) literally means the work of the people.  It’s 'our duty, and our joy’ as we say in the words of the service, and it’s a privilege to do that as a team.
